Morgan Muise is going to be Arsenault’s alternate at the Scotties. Shame it isn’t Scott, however…

Other alternates include:

Alberta (Walker): Dana Ferguson
Manitoba (Zacharias): Lori-Olson Johns
Northern Ontario (McCarville): Jen Gates
Northwest Territories (Galusha): Megan Koehler
Nova Scotia (Black): Carole MacLean
Quebec (St-Georges): Alanna Routledge

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict only one team out of the top 10 in Canada will stay the same after this year. Mens and womens.

Doesn't count if you don't say who.

Personally I think Team Walker should stay together. They have a higher peak and need stability.

A higher peak? What does that mean in this context? Do you mean that they have a few more years until they succeed?

I think that team has the potential to win a major event if they stay together. So they have a higher peak ahead of them than they have yet hit. They've had a very good two years following Walker's pregnancy and I don't see why any of them would look elsewhere.

But then I think a lot of teams should stick together unless they have logistical reasons not to. I think all of Einarson, Homan and Fleury should stay together, too. Except for maybe Einarson none of those current teams have hit their potential.

On the men's side I think it's less clear because so many teams might have other reasons to change (will Morris really stay with Koe? is Jacobs done and does Kennedy stay? do Bottcher and Dunstone even have full teams?).

My guess is they'll go with Karsten Sturmay. They might be hoping that someone big doesn't make it, but it's hard to know.

Many people have thought Tyler Tardi would be a great choice at 3rd as well, even moving forward permanently as a 3rd for a top team. Just speculation on my part though.

I think if they don’t have their perfect match confirmed yet, they (Brandon) May want to try someone at The brier and worlds if they’re so lucky. After the Brier they’re will be a bunch of players stepping away or stepping back for a number of reasons. Family, recover from the last few years grind, work etc. Then there’ll be lots of choices. And only one slam left.
I’m guessing he had a few players in mind before Darren was cut. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

The hard part is you have to deal not only with playing but also with what might be a very difficult situaiton. Maybe you'll win a Brier; maybe you'll be booed for 30 minutes straight and go home in shame. Anything could happen, no one really knows for sure.

I'll be suprised if it's anything more than scattered negatively-if there's even a crowd. What there will be is complete fan support for Moulding should his team play Bottcher.

After all that, they just promoted their fifth? Something smells real funny about team Bottcher. Good grief.

I mean they win the Brier, then Moulding is basically undefeated at the MD nationals, hurts his back and sits out to be at full strength for Men's worlds...

And then, from all I can tell, team Bottcher wins 30% of their games for the rest of the year, scapegoats Moulding and then they can't find anyone to replace him wearing the national colors for a free trip to the Brier, no qualifying necessary?

For no good reason, I always thought Moulding rubbed me the wrong way, but - man - that is on me, because I appear to have been a lousy judge of character. Moulding seems to have gotten railroaded and screwed.

Sure seems that “no” would be the popular answer.
If Janssens was their choice all along, they would have said so from the start.

Sportsnet article says Koe's team is breaking up after this year. Knew Morris was leaving but thought the other 3 might carry on. Maybe a Brier win will make them reconsider.
Interesting tidbit in the article says 75% of Curl Canada funding comes from Seasons of Champions events, always thought they got more government funding than 25%.
