Home Hardware Canada Cup

Draw # 1 will be televised on TSN 1,3 and 4 on Wednesday @ 11AM ET.

Not certain who will be featured but hopefully it will be either Epping vs Koe or Gushue vs Bottcher, all of whom should reach the QF's.

I believe that only the top 3 teams make the playoffs in the Canada Cup. (only 7 teams total).

Isn't Cheryl playing for Scheidegger?

I hope they do without that stupid timing rule, dislike seeing teams rushing into their shot.

I think it was one of slams last year that tinkered with rules to have each end timed. Canada Cup is the real rules, 10 ends, Olympic qualifying.

No, it was the Canada Cup that tried the weird timing rules last year. Meaghan was right.

They’ve announced the feature TV games for tomorrow (Wednesday). It’ll start with a men’s match with Gushue vs. Bottcher at 11 eastern / 8 pacific. Next will be the women with Jones vs Einerson at 4 eastern / 1 pacific. And finally it’s another men’s match with Koe vs Jacobs at 9 eastern / 6 pacific.

The Thursday morning TV match will be Carey vs Scheidegger (Bernard). They haven’t decided who will be the TV matches for the rest of the day yet.

I might be among the few, but I'm digging the sort of Farley Mowat look for BJ Neufeld. Great game.

I've been watching the action so far from Leduc, regularly seeing 6 feet of curl on draws, getting by guards by a foot and then coming out the other side of the guard.

My question is:

Is 6 feet of curl too much?

Keep in mind all the players are spinning the stones on release so they don't get more.

For me, 4.5 feet of curl is the perfect amount. You can have some room by guards and still bury nicely and the hits run on a consistent line.

You may be on to something here. I'll admit nobody wants straight ice, 2 feet of curl, but it seems more and more the ice makers and even more guilty rock grinders/sanders, are trying to see if they can out do the previous. I totally agree 4-5 feet is plenty. It's to the point where the best teams in the world are being embarrassed by the inconsistent ice, 6 feet curl on one side of the sheet, and 5-10 feet slower on the other side. The best of both, consistent speed and curl on ALL the sheets, both sides of the sheet. And for the commentators always praising the ice makers, give them cr@p when they get it wrong once in a while. Because they do.

In full agreeance; yes, praise them when the ice is actually good but when it isn't . . . Be honest. Now and then a curler has an honest view on the ice conditions and I have seen them getting raked through the coals about it on social media. It's easy to forget for some that they're the ones playing on it, not the detractors. I was actually shocked when one of the commentators tonight said BJ missed a shot and did comment on that side of the sheet being "off."

Watching the games this week, Koe is the best pure thrower equal to watch since Wayne Middaugh back in the day.

Agreed, he's underrated imo and I also dig his ability to park a mistake and have another go at his next attempt. I'm thinking some players have an issue with parking their mistakes; Gushue might be one?

"In Full Agreeance" 11-29-19

Was curious about your choice of the word "agreeance" and learned this word went out with the dishwater in the mid-to-late 1800's and was subsequently replaced by "agreement". In addition, I understand this word has not even appeared in any dictionary for at least a century, all of which begs the question: When did you celebrate your 100th birthday? lol

I'm happy John Epping made the final, the entire team has been playing well this fall.
Hopefully with a Canada Cup win, they'll get more respect from everyone.

To use today's word, I am in agreeance. Epping always seemed 1/2 step behind Howard and others in Ontario. This combination may be the one that gets him over the hump. His whole team played really well this week. Felt bad for Bottcher and his 2 misses for 8 points.

Carey trying the double in the 5th end quite foolish. 5-2 with 5 to play would have been better than 6-1 with 5 to play. Easy draw for the 1.

I’ve noticed many of our top ladies teams are not playing much internationally example the Perth Masters. To me, the more they play the other world teams the better.

Very very well done. I'm glad they are the front runners for the Roar. Hope they make it. I'm sure it will be a different outcome this time. Congrats Team Homan. And, good luck team Fleury in your upcoming events.
