Despite being wounded in earlier battle the monsters are rising to the occasion.

Expect to see McEwen, Gunner, 2 others in final 4 - Calvert & Lott in all probability!

So, 32 teams and in 5 games, Carruthers plays McNamee twice.

McRuthers managed to dispose of the pesky veteran McNamee in their 2nd encounter. The 2nd one usually more important than the first.

Only thing that can get in the way of Mike & Reid now is Jason Gunnlaugson. Gunner no longer an unstable pushover. He's synched up his incredible hit game with some nuance in chap 'n lie, draw, etc. Not as good a draw man as Reid (few are) but better than Mike - almost as good at hits as Mike, maybe even better with runner weight.

Lott and Calvert will have their say today (maybe tomorrow) but just not enough firepower in their cannons.

Would love to see Lott or Calvert win final

New blood here and Alberta - and dunstone too

Not hoping against the others but yearn for another Manitoba run for about 5 years til I croak

Love the briars -it gives more than 4 teams like slams a chance
- though the ugly tv people are now tweaking it to let in a couple of wild cards

KOE BOTCHER MCEWAN ?

WORSE TV MAKES THEm PLAY FOR AWEEK THEN PLAY AT 8:30 - 11 semi then 2 - 5 in final

Not fair to players - pass the whine pls

Appears McRuthers well on their way to administrate a thrashing of Gunner Gunnlaugson.
Gunner has been floating around Virden in a cloud - facing little to no opposition - now he's got a tiger by the tail.

Looks like Willy Lyburn waiting in the wings (if he defeats Lott) to topple Gunner on a bad rebound loss to McRuthers.

So, now a very good chance Mike & Reid will represent Manitoba at the Brandon Brier.

Two "Cautious Cathys' playing off for the right to get eviscerated by Reid & Mikey in Manitoba final.

Obvious display of non-finesse and too many missed shots on Sportsnet - even Jeff Stoughton & Gushue have no choice but to criticize the teams, mostly Gunner for his ultra-defensive strategic backfires.

Reid must be licking his chops at the thought of playing either one of these pretend Monsters but Reid also worried about his 4th rock thrower, Mikey McEwen who has generally come down tight and out-of-sorts in Manitoba finals.

“Cautious Cathys”. Good term for this game. Gunner really needs to learn about the 5 rock rule...McEwen won’t be worried either of these teams.

hey ml its curling

anyone can beat anyone -

either of these teams curls 95% at 2:30 and carruthers loses 9-2 in 6 ends - at portage bypass by 4

and whats with brad doing paid color for rsn - i know rogers and ctv and cbc are in cahoots- now it seems that a few of the pampered allstars are getting special treatment too

as fishy as cheater tom brady and sleazy kraft --

something stinks when 5 people get meat and 500 seagulls get picked over bones

and the ice is brutal - one path 15 ft faster than a ft to the left -- great for prov final

- waste a year and the ice determines outcome

Only way McEwen loses to either of these "Cautious Cathys" is if he comes down with his Consols Heebie-Jeebies or Measles . . .

Gunner's weakness this morning = the missed shot(s)

Mikey was solid, very solid. Other than the 1 crappy end where the Scotsman rang him up for a 3-spot. Reid's fault - he confused Mike on strategy and Mike fell for it.

Nice runner-up story in Willy Lyburn - but thats all he is now - a runner-up.

That and 55 cents gets you an instant coffee and a seat in the Gary Ross club.

Hey 99% of curlers would love to have one 1/2 as much as Ross - I’d be happy to have 10% of his record

Bet he won 200 games in the provincials - when curlers were men and brooms were straw
