Gsoc. Pintys Tour
Draw 7 on rsn at 10 thurs
The tsn rsn pseudo fight is getting a bit much
Just list the only interesting event ( to me ). At the top of the 75 other events that about 50 family members are interested in

There are no fans in europe _ only about 20 teams
China has paid school kids
4 teams
Im guessing of the 50 odd games to the left - played at local clubs - - less than 300 spectators in total
But thx for posting - you doubled your production ...
Need more commenters here
Btw posts get shut down during games due to high traffic
DRAW 7 JACOBS V GUNNLAUGSON
and 4 womens games

Good to see Tier2 getting profile. Good for their sponsors. The difference might be only team changes - who brings "points" and who doesn't, and youth. Fleury over Wrana is a good win. Bottcher Dunstone may be the rivalry of the future. SeeSaw. I will remember this event (with both tiers) for next season - Lots to see. *This post was not run through a translator and back again. Truncation intentional.

Kelsey & Team Homan are long gone. Homan barfed up a deuce in 8 and a steal in an extra to Jennifer Jones of all people to fail coming out of the tie-breaker.
Speaking of Jones, must be tough for all her fans out there, across Canada and the world to see her flailing out there. Behind the tee she's still Jennifer Jones - a self-assured and strategically near perfect skip.
In the hack a different story. She's screaming frantically, trying to add another 10 or 12 feet to her pathetically light draws - or getting Dawn to grind on a tap that's half a foot (or more) outside.
The look on Kaitlyn Lawes face said it all during Jones QF elimination yesterday morning. It was the look of defeat - knowing that even 3 front side players working a near perfect game isn't enough to compensate for a failing 45 yr old skip who cannot produce routine curling shots.
btw - she looks the same, slides the same but no longer has the killer instinct that governed most of her amazing hall of fame career. Its very sad to see.

I would have preferred to more of the Koe-Gushue game then watching misses by Fujisawa and Team Roth. I know SportsNet wants to show all the games and we should be on our knees thanking god that curling is on tv...but I’d rather watch one good game than bits of mediocre games.

Hasselborg vs. Einarson went pretty much as predicted.
Einarson is a great little curler but just doesn't have the shots to stand up to a world monster like Anna. Anna put up an expected 83% (average for Anna, certainly not her big game hunter 87 to 93%) but Kerri could only scrounge up a 70% game when it counted.
Another difference-maker. Shannon Birchard's march to the #1 status amongst elite 2nds was suddenly halted by Agnes K. who put down the great Canadian 2nd by quite a bit. Einarson had been making their mark on the back of Birchard curling perfect or near-perfect games. Today - not so much!

Einarson was visibly frustrated with some of Sweeting's line calls in the house. Shannon should be third.

1. all 4 winners of the slam this week represented 4 different countries. fun. asia, europe, canada and united states all got a win. pretty cool
2. where was nina roth this week?
3. i know john morris gets a lot of flack on here but the simple fact of the matter is this: teams this guy is on do well. he deserves more respect than he gets. he's a brilliant curler
4. jenniffer jones may not be what she once was but she's still having a good season. a title, a final and has qualified at both slams so far this year. decline is natural but a certain someone on here in particular needs to lay off
5. val just isnt a great 3rd. she's meant to be a skip. thats just my observation.
6. brad will be frustrated that he's made 2 finals in the first 2 slams and lost both. kind of surprising that this team has played great to get there and in both cases they've had their weakest game of the event in the final
7. overall we had 2 great winners of the tier 2 but what the hell with these lists?. way to many sponsor inserts this year. i get that they wanted to give the locals someone to cheer for but you are never going to convince me that teams like chad stevens, andrea crawford , and greg smith deserved invites over teams like tyler tardi, alina kovaleva, anna sidorova and jan hess. no offense at all to the invited teams but..come on

Val Sweeting is a Top10 Canadian 3rd - also a Top 10 Canadian skip.
But she's not an elite skip like Homan, Fleury, Einarson, Carey, even Jones or McCarville.
She'll make some shots, miss some shots, make some poor calls, make some inspired calls but her overall game has never really come together - as SKIP
As 3rd - Val doesn't face the excruciating pressure she always had mild problems with. Not great at line calls, has some depth problems on weight.
Don't know if Einarson would get much of a bump w/ Birchard moving up. Birchard is now one of the great 2nds in the women's game. The biggest problem would be Val moping around at 2nd - certainly nowhere near precise a hitter as Shannon, Val is also a relatively under-powered brush.
The dream team might be - if Val is dropped from the roster - - - Birchard skipping, Einarson or Kaitlyn Lawes at 3rd, Meilleur at 2nd & Kris McCuish on lead stone. Perhaps one more season at 2nd before Shannon Birchard makes the natural move back to skip. She's a seasoned & fairly grizzled competitor now with lots accomplished on her resume.

In past years I became notorious for criticizing Jennifer Jones. For the most part the critiques were simple: 1) JJ was over-aggressive in close situations & 2) JJ was under-aggressive/almost passive while defending leads.
She was still capable of making big-game shots, one of the most fearless last rock shooters in late or extra ends. Sometimes absolutely out of this world.
Now, the sad end to a brilliant career appears imminent. Her end & game control has become relatively non-existent. Too many routine shots missed and even the odd big game shot, too!
Strategy remains the same - over-aggressive at game start; way too passive and defensive when defending leads, far too many squandered points gained by big ends (3 or more) or steals.
Problem will be hard to fix as Jennifer is fairly stubborn. Game to game she figures her slump is ending. It isn't . . .
Her curlers won't speak up, they don't dare to. They're contractually obligated to perform under Jones' auspices for this year (chasing a 7th STOH title) and next year - trying to qualify for her 2nd Olympic gold.

Agreed, Misty1, Morris is a great curler and Team Koe had a blast with him on board this week. Nice blast from the past for Koe and Benny.
Ah, ML, writing off Jenn Jones' career. All teams go through streaks, for whatever the reason. De Cruz and Schwaller failed to make the playoffs but not seeing you write off their career . . .

I believe I heard them say the skip for the Roth team has been playing most of the season as Roth is pregnant.

Yes, Nina Roth is pregnant.
At earlier events this season, she was still with the team on the ice and calling the game, but she was throwing at a spot earlier in the line-up, with Tabitha Peterson throwing fourth's stones. They've now reached the point in the pregnancy where she doesn't want to be throwing anymore, and what you saw this weekend will likely be the line-up going forward the rest of the season. It got them an undefeated round robin and all the way to the semi-finals, so I think it's safe to say it's working out well.

It is working out well for Tabitha. I was impressed with her calling of the game and her rock placement.

Tabitha was a real revelation. Great performances.
And she'll have her chance to move up to skip when Roth returns - mainly cuz the American Curling Assoc. doesn't have lock-in contracts like many Canadian teams. If Tabitha is worthy of skipping - she'll skip.

But anyway, back to curling . . .
I rather wish they showed more of the Koe games so we could see more of the team dynamics with Morris on board.
