Masters North Bay
I wondered where team Scheidegger had gone and how Amber Holland got a slot - then, CZ corrected it to Team Scheidegger. Skipper Casey is watching online - and sez it's hard. Superspare last week was C.Bernard, now it is A.Holland. Good luck to this strong team. Kristie Moore has an impressive resume of teams, from skipper to front end with many topNotchers: Sonnenberg, Eberle, Wilkes - across AB and SK. Strong bones in this team.

Makes you wonder though about any curler who seems to flit from team to team

Oh Phshaw. Fry. Sweeting. Morris. Fleury. Layton Carey and on it goes - for the high profile names. The front enders also move around... chasing the dream? I like this team.

Bit of subbing this event; Scheidegger's on maternity leave, Glenn Howard's at an event so Scott Howard is skippig the team with Adam Spencer filling in his place, and BJ Neufeld out on paternity leave with Kirk Muyres filling in for him.

The Hasselborg/Jennifer Jones match bacn be watched on Sportsnet Now (feed). Really prefer watching it on TV, though.

The international streaming of Jones/Hasselborg is completely screwed up tonight. There have been many forms of this screwup, but at the moment the sound is the live action but the video is from ten minutes ago.

HERE'S an idea sportsnet. Maybe, just maybe don't show the baseball on all of your channels. Hockey on one, wrestling on another and baseball on several. If you can't cover all of the curling, give it over to another T.V. broadcaster. Just a thought.

Agreed. I'd prefer it if they moved them to CBC.

hmm, one Canadian team in the last of the four women's make the semi's? They really are catching up.

Jones has evidently been a flubbing machine this week in North Bay.
Got herself carved up by Hasselborg (no surprise, Jones hates playing high percentage pelters like Hasselborg & Homan) and totally embarrassed herself last few ends vs. the Japanese this afternoon's quarter-final.
Never seen a curler call such a precision-game (to the inch sometimes) and miss by so much (some of her draws weren't even close, her players didn't help either, miserable outings from Kaitlyn & Joss Peterman, Dawn Askin almost always superb)
Kerri Einarson has a power-packed team (again) but her weakness showed again today in an early handshake vs. Hasselborg. Kerri sometimes misses out of nowhere but she's usually better than getting carved up 7-1 by Hasselborg.

Nice week for Team Fleury. Glad to see them win.
When you read this Gerry, pass a note to Mike Harris. Pictou is not pronounced Pictoo, but Pictoe.

I'm guessing you pointed out the correct pronunciation not because you're from Pictou but because you are a "Bluenoser"? Correct?

Fleury overpowered a quality Japanese group today - outcome never in doubt. Fleury is clearly becoming Manitoba's #1 Scotties hope - she's a far more consistent performer than Kerri Einarson; although both are subject to missing shots out of the blue.
Jennifer Jones seems rather disconnected. If not JJ, her team looks to be straying from their central directive - winning games.
JJ still calls the most aggressive game in the women's division. Only problem is the sheer amount of misses by her, Kaitlyn & Peterman lend themselves to big ends & steals from opponents.
Don't believe JJ will be the overwhelming favorite in Manitoba - she might not even get a #1 or #2 seed - right now Fleury & Einarson have passed her.

Team Dunstone - Way to go Sasky boys! (ok with a little help from a bison guy). All the hard work put in last year to move up the rankings has paid off big time. You now play like you belong at the top level. Don't slow down now!

Weird question, but is Connor Njegovan coaching Team Yoshimura?
Oh nevermind, I answered my own question.
https://pressfrom.info/ca/news/spor...en-s-final.html
"Team Tracy Fleury [...] will meet Japan’s Team Sayaka Yoshimura in the women’s final [...]. Either way, someone in the Njegovan household wins as Selena’s husband Connor coaches Team Yoshimura."

Yes, he is. At least for the Masters - and imminent future.
I'd say Yoshimura is a dark horse to medal at the next Olympics. Not a ton of flaws in their game. Some strategy concerns which can be worked out.
Right now my women's Olympic favorites are as follows:
1. Anna Hasselborg
2. Rachel Homan
3. Silvana Tirinzoni (only if Patz is still with her)
4. Casey Scheidegger
5. Kerri Einarson (despite the occasional black-out)
6. Jennifer Jones/Yoshimura (tie)
7. Tracey Fleury
8. Princess Eve Muirhead
9. Nina Roth
10. Anna Sidorova
11. Robyn Silvernagle
12. Beth Peterson (very long shot)

Chelsea Carey also deserves mention. A mercurial performer - she's already bagged 2 Scotties and has a solid team ready to rock 'n roll.
Gotta get by some incredible Canadian performers to get there but she can be a monster if she does.
