Hypothetical doomsday scenario
Assume the wheels fall off and Canada finishes 7th and out of the Olympic spots.
The last chance Olympic qualifier is in early December. The Canadian Olympic Trials are in the last week in November.
Who would go? All the top teams will be in the trials and there's only a week after the trials until the last chance begins (location???). I assume they would send the trials winner but to peak and win the trials and then rush off somewhere to qualify would be a tall order.

1) this isn’t going to happen
2) arrogant as this will sound, every team in the qualifiers... every single one... would easily and should easily be expected to finish in the top three of a tournament that does not include teams from Norway, Sweden, Russia, Great Britain, Switzerland, and the United States (as those are the only six teams that could finish above Bottcher).

The key word is hypothetical. But to address your points.
1)This could happen. the odds are slim but it is possible. If Canada loses to Norway and Switz wins their last 3 it's a tie. Don't know if it's a tiebreaker or Swiss get spot due to win over Canada but either way there would be a chance of Canada finishing 7th.
2)I wasn't asking how a team from Canada would do in a qualifier against the "weaker" curling countries that would be there. I was asking who would be selected and also unsaid is how arrogant CC is to make a schedule that basically assumes Canada is in top 6.

Even if bottcher misses playoffs people need to have some perspective. They'll still have a chance to qualify?, it doesn't for sure mean canada misses the olympics. Also, it's just a sport. Move on. For as hard as it is to watch its do much harder on them
I can already see and have already read some incredibly hareful things about them . Canada has to be the only country in the world where the curlers get treated so badly after they lose. Colleen actually got death threats after she missed the podium in 99 and after she lost to us in 2003 final
