Sherwood Classic - Womens
Some interesting results after the initial 'Slaughter of the Fawns' subsided.
1. Jennifer Jones made playoffs again but was beaten into submission, courtesy Korea's Eujung Kim who nuked JJ w/ the 6-spot in the 4th end to advance.
2. Rachel Homan's earth-moving outfit from Ottawa was unbeaten but suffered an unexplainable 5-4 loss in an EE, Germany's Daniela Jentsch securing the winning steal.
3. The 2 top Manitoba teams, Tracy Fleury & Kerri Einarson will meet later in the final. The normally meek & mild Fleury has been gradually gaining confidence. While she'll never be labelled as a killer, she still gets the job done - and should give the slightly favored Einarson 4 all they can handle.
Einarson was exposed as a super-skip that got quickly dispatched at last year's worlds. Unlike her Manitoba compatriot Jennifer Jones - who now delivers consistently embarrassing percentages, Einarson will usually have very good to great percentages but her kryptonite = too many key misses in critical situations.
Jones might be wasting one of women's curlings great teams in Lawes, Peterman, Dawn & Lisa. Having a low percentage skip at their helm has to be totally demoralizing.
Jones being vanquished is almost always expected now but Homan going down has to be far more disconcerting to her fan base. Jones nearing 50, both her demeanor + completed shot count are dropping badly.
I'm one of the good guys now!
