Regarding Fry:
As good a player as he is, he always seems to wear out his welcome with teams after 2 or 3 years.
Perhaps Ryan could join up with Adam Casey and John Morris to form a nomadic, no-fixed-address team. They could be given an honorary spot in the Brier, in place of the Wild Card spot!

Regarding Savill/Epping...
It's unfortunate that some people think they are positioned to comment accurately on such situations. The undeniable fact is that unless one knows the people directly involved personally, one has no clue as to all the intricacies and dynamics of the relationships within the team (or within any other team one does not know personally). What we get through the media is merely surface fluff - almost always over-sensationalized. And 'social media' never tells the complete story, which would take several pages to tell accurately. To believe everything one reads - and to expound upon that by assuming the motives of people one doesn't know - is quite obviously purely ridiculous.

What started the Savill/Epping frenzy was Savill himself posting on Social Media. No mention of talking with Epping only that he heard the news from Laing (where Laing's name was misspelled). He knows how viral a post can get.

oh ****. i hope they dont screw around with the teams. i thought they'd have learned their lesson. apparently not.

i can definitely see them combining the paterson/mouat teams trying to form a super team for the olympics.

i could see them trying something like this:

team 1:

skip: patersonm
third : hardie
second : lammie
lead : goodfellow

team 2 :

skip : mouat
third: waddell
second: menzies
lead: mcmillan

other scenario i could see them trying would be this:

skip - mouat
third - paterson
second - lammie
lead - goodfellow

that would probably be the strongest combination of the 2 teams. not saying i approve and i hope it doesnt come to pass

they have 2 really good teams right now i'd hope they dont screw around with them. of course there's a 3rd mens team . glen muirhead that could factor in but i say leave them alone

however knowing them as the olympics draw near they'll take the 4 they think make the best team and groom them for the 2022 olympics so we might not see them mess around with them next season but we might in the 2020/2021 season.

i just hope they'd avoid this:

skip - mouat
third - smith
second - paterson
lead - ..mcmillan?

take their top 3 skips and force them together. but, again i could see them trying it just because

women i dont know they'd change to much except maybe insert sophie jackson at third on eve muirhead's team

anyone know what the hell happened to hannah flemming by the way?

Scotland, like Canada, has always had a problem with people at the top sticking their noses in where they don't belong.
I remember past worlds where the Scots would come with a 5 man team and start subbing players in and out as soon as a rough patch was hit. The players didn't seem to have much say in the matter.

Canada tried this method in the trials before the 88 Calgary Olympics, pulling players who had never played together in an attempt to make super teams. If memory serves the winners were Linda Moore and Ed Lukowich who were allowed to come in with their own teams intact, no superstar imports.

You'd think they would have learned a lesson but no, last Olympics they told Homan's rink that their fifth wasn't eligible because she had no international experience. Forget comfort level, forget team chemistry, out you go because Curl Canada made a rule.

CC also continues to foist their coaches onto teams at the worlds so now you have two in the room, your own and someone parachuted in.

Not a team change per se but with Ben Hebert not being able to make it for the last leg of the Curling World Cup, wonder who they might bring in as spare? I'm guessing Appelman?

Probably depends on whether Appleman can sweep. Maybe BJ will call up Denny?
Of course after Koe watched Benny and Flasch kill his last rock before it even had a chance maybe he wants less sweeping. Normally they're good but that was amateur hour.

Adam Casey will join Team Gunnlaugson at second next season after Denni Neufeld decided to take a step back.

Denni Neufeld is also going to fill in as sub for Hebert in the Curling World Cup final in Beijing.

Will be interesting to see how they play this. Muirhead team was already a 5-player squad with Vicky Wright as the 5th player (former Hannah Fleming teammate). Lineup in Arctic Cup starting tomorrow has Wright at 2nd and Chalmers at Lead with Lauren Gray moved up to 3rd.

wow. thats a big loss for eve. vicki has been with her since junior days and was one of the best 2nds in the world(in my opinion only courtney was stronger) she wont be easy to replace.

wish her all the best after curling though

will eve look elsewhere or bring their 5th player in. will be interestiing

might not be entirely up to her either. with scottish federtaion's new powers they might insert someone from jackson's rink in...maybe sophie herself

and im still not ruling out an announcement from team mouat or team patterson or both of team changes involving swapping of players that they "decided" would be best.

I don't know... I can kinda see it. In the 17-18 season, the Andersons played with Cory and Vicki Persinger played with Sinclair. It's like they've blended those two teams together now. And everyone on that team is also playing a lot of mixed doubles, so it makes sense to have it as a five-player set-up so that if any one of them makes a deep run with their mixed team at something, they'll be covered by the ones who don't.

This season, I think Cory and her teammates had a lot of schedule conflicts with school, but this now makes it look like they've finished that and can try a full-time curling schedule.

The Sinclair team certainly gets a lot of questions but I really think this creates a lineup that can be a real threat now.

It was quite obvious that Sarah Anderson wasn't ready to play 3rd at this level yet. Her comfort level in the Slams and Worlds seemed to really affect her shotmaking. Her record in Mixed Doubles shows she's an extremely competent player though and she did play great during the Nationals (which she has played in many now) but she likely needs more experience in big games. She'll get there, she's a strong player and settling in at lead where can lean on her strengths will help to build her experience levels. If she grabs it, she can be one of the best leads in the game and move back up eventually. Sarah's also part of one of the best Mixed Doubles teams too with Korey Dropkin, so she'll be busy there at the same time.

Cory is a shotmaker and should line up well with Jamie and her overall game style. Vicky's precision hitting was huge for Sinclair 2 years ago and looked comfortable again at the Champions Cup.

As for Cory's old team, Jenna Martin retired and Madison Bear will be part of the 3rd development team as a skip, likely a better first there. Vicky comes along.

This seems like a great move that brings together players who seem to want to be together as well.

Gerry, you seem to have more knowledge than the press release had about the precise Sinclair line-up. Will it be Cory at 3rd then and Vicki at 2nd? Or vice versa? And Taylor as the 5th? Or will they mix it around?

Ulsurd

ROSTER CHANGES

A huge announcement has come down the wire, as the future of Team Ulsrud has come to light!

Beginning with the Skip, Thomas Ulsrud has found a new team, joining a fellow Skip in forming a kind of new team.

Thomas will Skip the Steffen Walstad rink, as Steffen will move to Third, as Markus Høiberg is in at Second, and Magnus Trulsen at Lead. This is the new line-up as Magnus Nedregotten has left the team. According to the Team Ulsrud Facebook page, the pants will not be going with Thomas, but that could change. Speculation from Everything Curling is that Magnus has made his leave from the rink to focus on Mixed Doubles with Kristin Skaslien, where the duo has found a measure of success in the last few seasons.

Onto the rest of the former Team Ulsrud. Christeffer Svae is leaving his options open, and currently considering a few options, no further information is available at this time.

Håvard Petersson has decided to step back from competitive Curling, although that may not be permanent.

Torger Nergård seemingly has made the same decision, but is already considering teaming up with his wife to play Mixed Doubles.

I believe the lineup still needs to be finalized at this point. The team will have some training camps this summer where I would assume some of that is to be decided.

Did I miss the announcement of Kaitlyn Jones taking over the helm of Alli Flaxey's team? Alli's return to MB was short-lived. This will be an interesting season. Kate Cameron has her third skip in three years with Laura Walker. I guess it happened last spring, but seeing it on the ice makes it real. I wonder if KJ really is a phenom. We shall see.

Well, it was a nail-biter EE. Westcott at lead on Cannon's team now, down'd her old team, sort of. KJ with Alli at third couldn't eek out a win against Theresa Cannon who'd leap-frogged from lead to skipper on the former Robertson team. Go MB Go. Clear as mud. Is it the politics or the chemistry of the roaring game? The mystery, maybe.

Youngest Jones

Great curler but a LOOOOONNNNGGG way from being compared to any other Jones, Jennifer , Colleen, Davey.... She played well in Junior but remember she did inherit a world junior championship team when she moved to Halifax. A gift from soon to be DR Fay. As suggested earlier by Nelski, we shall see..
