Did I miss the announcement of Kaitlyn Jones taking over the helm of Alli Flaxey's team? Alli's return to MB was short-lived. This will be an interesting season. Kate Cameron has her third skip in three years with Laura Walker. I guess it happened last spring, but seeing it on the ice makes it real. I wonder if KJ really is a phenom. We shall see.

Well, it was a nail-biter EE. Westcott at lead on Cannon's team now, down'd her old team, sort of. KJ with Alli at third couldn't eek out a win against Theresa Cannon who'd leap-frogged from lead to skipper on the former Robertson team. Go MB Go. Clear as mud. Is it the politics or the chemistry of the roaring game? The mystery, maybe.

Youngest Jones
Great curler but a LOOOOONNNNGGG way from being compared to any other Jones, Jennifer , Colleen, Davey.... She played well in Junior but remember she did inherit a world junior championship team when she moved to Halifax. A gift from soon to be DR Fay. As suggested earlier by Nelski, we shall see..

They couldn't get past seasoned Ont.Vet Susan Froud... new team, yes. It will be fun to follow. Glad to see such a great lineup at this event. Looking forward to following along as the Olympic Cycle unfurls.

McEwen is listed as Skip (not fourth) on his team at StuSells. Carruthers is listed at 3rd. No Teams Brad listed. Fry by Gunner.

Laura Walker skip w/ Kate Cameron vice is an interesting combination (Taylor MacDonald 2nd, Nadine Scotland, lead)
Could this be the year Walker finally emerges from her shell of indifference - having a feisty and take-no-prisoners 3rd in Cameron might be the jolt she needs.
Laura is easily one of the great statesmen in the game - classy and endlessly mingling with fans.
But her main disability over the last few years has been a basic failure to make shots, not just clutch shots but putting together a consistent 80+ game.
Will Cameron bring it out of her or will Laura continue to just be another one of those "Field Skips" who supplement most spiels/events while the usual suspects (Jones, Einarson, Homan, Scheidegger, TIrinzoni, Hasselborg, Muirhead, etc.) scoop up the wiinnings?

Hee!
Koe does seem to prefer using guys who have played with his teammates before or played with himself. Sensible, he knows their strategy etc. Johnny Mo's got cred.

Johnny Mo is the perfect pick. By far better than anyone else not on the 31 teams already playing.

As long as Johnny Mo can still maintain 85%+ shot-making he's a great pick.
Primary downside is that Morris is a really noisy campaigner compared to KK being a veritable mute. Could be annoying to either one - but I suspect the professionalism at this level will mean both compromise.
The real upside is that Johnny spent years kicking Kevin's arse when he rode shotgun for K-Mart and when Koe started rising thru the ranks he started inflicting revenge on both Martin & Johnny Mo.

Agreed. I foresee the dynamic being similar to Marc Kennedy's with Koe so could be a dangerous good combination (not that BJ/Koe dynamic isn't bad of course just different).
