Any premier/MP who would spend money on this type of PR during a pandemic when small businesses are dying should be run out of office.

New fund raiser if we big spenders each chip in $ 5
Allwe need to raise is $1000

First $200 we sponsor a pic of misty

Second $200 - ML

3rd $200. Pallister the premier grinch of manitoba - laying off people this month effective march 2021 as misty seat mate

4th $200. Risbey coutts to prove he isnt ML

5th $200 - somone who ACTUALLY died of covid 19 but wasnt 79- 105 , wasnt in a nursing home for previous year , or had not been partying or breaking the rules - likehutterites going to a funeral, shopping at best buy

If one of the above declines then we put a picture of one of the owners of a nice restaurant or small business that followed the rules, had no covid outbreaks, and were still shut down by the covid police

Maybe CC can provide tax deductible donation receipts for "donations" to up the ante for cardboard posters in the stands and then delivered to those who "donate" . I can see cardboard posters of Scotties toilet paper, Tim Horton's etc behind the sheets. Much cheaper than tv time.

My only concern is, is the safety of all those involved, teams, volunteers, officials yada yada, worth the money from the tv deals. It's all about the money, both CC and the associations across the country.

I agree with earlier posters, if they cant hold the Scotties /Brier, and they're he'll bent on hosting the world's, just send last year's winner who missed out.

Do you want my neighbor, my coworker, the man on our parish council or the 22 year old daughter of a family friend?

Or the two 50 somethings in the obituaries this morning?

Maybe Canada is different, but this is real in the USA.

McCarville's not going. Krysta Burns would represent Northern Ontario.

Warren & Kevin keep saying they need a players association this would have been a good time to have one. Egos are involved too...

Not fair to delegate the pros - they need to earn their way

If you dont want tp play in provincials you likely dont want to play in the scot either

These playdowns , scot snd brier. Shud get a big * like the briers in the 90s when 76% of players were striking

Spot on. This should be the case for all countries that would have otherwise participated in the cancelled worlds last year. IMO the only tournaments that matter this year are the worlds as they determine 2022 Olympic qualification. If this can't be held, the WCF will need to re-modify their process to determine participants for the Games.

there are egos at the top that are just to big for them to have ever decided on such a thing

Will rinks from the Maritimes and NL compete? Not much chance to win and 2 week quarantine when they return? Of course rules may change by Feb.

a lot of teams might have to weigh those pros and cons the way krista and her team did and decide whats more important to them. i wouldnt be surprised if, faced with a up to a month away from their family more teams decide not to go

canada has just joined that list banning flights from the UK indefinitely. throw another wrinkle in. if this is still in place come worlds then scotland may not be able to send a mens team to worlds.

PS. Nothing wrong with Gunner (Jason Gunnlaugson). He upset Reid/Mikey at 2019 Manitoba playdowns. Unfortunately, Gunner's form chart says he's unable to stand up to the big monsters of the mid-way (ie. Jacobs, Gushue, Epping, Bottcher, Howard, Koe, etc.)

Mikey & Reid bit better standing up to the bully-monsters of Canadian mens curling but neither team capable of dominating ALL the USUAL MONSTER SUSPECTS.

Even at 60 or 61 Old Glenny a better percentage curler than any of the old guys who competed for Briers:

Abby Gowanlock - won his last (of 2) Briers at 53, in 1953
Kenny Watson - won his last (of 4) Briers in 1949, aged 45
Matty Baldwin, Donnie Duguid, PeeWee Pickering, Alfie Phillips, Ernie Richardson, Fivey Ferbey, K-Mart Martin, Jeff Stoughton, etc. all well under 50 when they competed (let alone won) their last Brier. (Duguid was only 36 in 1971, Ernie Richardson not even 35 in 1965, Howard Wood was a different species of curler, he won the Manitoba championship in 1945, tricking Mr. Watson but the Brier was still cancelled due to WWII. PeeWee Pickering made his last Brier appearance (of 6) in 1971, he had yet to turn 40.

dont worry, curling canada will do what they can to get them in. im already seeing rumors on twitter that the field will be expanded to 18 to get certain teams in

Thanks to those provinces that shut down playdowns and did what Curling Canada still refuses to do.
Curl On has kept the number of registrations a secret. Just made the announcement. Would be interesting to know how man teams actually registered.

Exactly. Koe for example was at last year's Brier as Team Canada so if Alberta cancels playdowns he would be out. They won't allow that. JJones is in as Manitoba runner up last year since Einarson is now Canada so Tracy Fleury who Jones beat in WC playin will get in. Howard lost WC playin but he will in because a)he's a big name and b)CC are Ontario.
Most interesting might be Sask where Silvernagle's team is not together.

Saskatchewan appears bound and determined to have some sort of play down. Whether they ro or hy selection its a safe bet Dunstable will he the rep and if by some way he's not cc will get him there. The woman are a toss up between silvernagle, Holland and Howard.

The more interesting for me are actually Alberta and Quebec.alberta because of the unreal depth. Koe and bottcher are both strong and names cc will want there but Harty and sturmay are young and rising fast and could be fun to watch. Then there's wild cards like the returned Thomas . Quebec ..its not really depth but more a case of having 2 very good young teams in roberge and st.gorges that just missed out last year. Would they send them or last years Champs. I can't see Quebec having a playdowns

Then there's the question of what the north will do. Will they even field teams

What is the current status of Team Robyn Silvernagle?
Are they not together due to curling being shut down?
Or are they just going their own ways?
