By Connor Simms, Kerri Einarson (Gimli, MB), with Val Sweeting at third and Shannon Birchard and Krysten Karwacki on the front end, has been fighting through injuries throughout the season. Birchard is recovering from a knee injury, so Einarson has been left with a second carousel this season. The team elected to have Brittany Tran fill in this weekend as they are in the Kioti National in Saint John's, Newfoundland. Although Einarson has yet to play with her regular lineup, they have been off to a solid start to the season. Their team has won two events out of five, the Hearing Life Tour Challenge Tier 1 and the Saville Shootout. Einarson is looking to get back to the Scotties Of Tournament of Hearts final after missing out last season for the first time since 2019. They are one of the three pre-determined wild card teams that automatically get a spot due to their rankings in the CTRS. They look to add another grand slam playoff appearance, having missed the playoffs only twice since the 2021-2022 season. Einarson takes to the ice against Halifax's Christina Black at 6:30 pm Newfoundland Time (4 pm Eastern Time), with their game Wednesday against Winnipeg's Chelsea Carey at 4:00 pm NT on Wednesday. On Thursday at 8:30 am NT, Einarson will face Chuncheon's Seungyoun Ha, and on Friday, they finish the round-robin against Gangneung's Eunjung Kim at 4 pm NT. All the round-robin action will happen until Friday, with the playoffs happening on Saturday. Then, the finals will be the lone games on Sunday.
