By: Cameron Sallaj Last season, Silvana Tirinzoni and her Swiss rink of fourth Alina Patz, second Selina Witschonke and lead Carole Howald played in the first edition of the Shorty Jenkins Classic to be held since 2019. There, the team dominated the field, winning all seven of their games to claim the championship title. In this year's edition of the event, the team have picked up where they left off, currently sitting 4-0 with one round robin game left to play on Saturday. Beginning the event on Wednesday, the four-time world champions and reigning world silver medalists opened against Scotland's Fay Henderson. After scoring one in the first, the team picked up consecutive steals, eventually leading 7-0 after four. Team Henderson then scored one in the fifth end before conceding the match, giving Tirinzoni a strong win to open their 2024-25 campaign. In game two, the Swiss side battled Nova Scotia's Christina Black. This game saw no activity through the first five ends with Tirinzoni blanking the majority of the game. After being forced to one in the sixth, Team Black took two in the seventh to lead by one coming home. Despite it being the first time the Swiss trailed all event, a triple takeout on Alina Patz' first rock allowed them to pick up three points and secure a narrow 4-2 win.
