Koe takes Shootout Skills to Saville
Calgary's Kevin Koe (photo: Anil Mungal, GSOC) looks to bounce back from an up-and-down season in 2023/24. It was a year of big ups and downs for the Koe team, with Tyler Tardi, Jacques Gauthier and Karrick Martin as they won twice, taking the prestigious Astec Safety Challenge and the Pumps and Pressure Classic in Red Deer while reaching three more finals. However, the team missed the playoffs in all five Grand Slam events last season, also finishing with two wins and six losses at Montana's Brier in Regina. Adding Gauthier to the lineup last season was a new change as the team adjusted to adding another player who mainly skipped throughout their career. Koe opens Friday at 11 am Mountain Time against Kenan Wipf of Calgary, skip of Calgary Dinos curling team with Ky Macaulay, Michael Keenan and Max Cinnamon in the lineup. Koe takes to the ice for a second game on Friday at 7pm MT against Edmonton's Evan van Amsterdam, then plays twice again on Saturday, at 11 am against Ryan Jacques of Edmonton and again at 7 pm against Andrew Dunbar. Koe wraps up round-robin action with a game against Japan's Takumi Maeda at 2 pm. Playoffs begin Monday, with the Championship Final taking place at 3 pm.
