Koe Undefeated into Red Deer Final

Calgary's Kevin Koe (photo: Stan Fong, Hardline Curling) looks to stay perfect in the Championship game.

The new-look youth movement for Koe, with junior phenom Tyler Tardi at third and the powerhouse sweeping tandem of Bradley Thiessen and Karrick Martin on the front end, continue to make their mark early on the tour season.

Koe now holds a 27-10 record after their 6-5 win over Sudbury's Tanner Horgan in Monday afternoon's Semifinal action, reaching their third final of the season.

Seeking their first title of the season, Koe lost 3-2 to Calgary's Brendan Bottcher in the final of the ATB Okotoks Classic, and 6-3 to Osker Eriksson and Team Edin in the final at the IG Wealth Management Western Showdown.

Koe opened the weekend with a 9-2 win over Japan's Yusuke Morozumi, then won 7-2 over Saskatoon's Colton Flasch and 6-2 over Ryan Jacques of Edmonton in the A-Qualifier game.

Another 7-1 win over Morozumi in the Quarterfinals started the playoffs for Koe.

Koe now faces Winnipeg's Matt Dunstone at 4 pm MT (6 pm ET), with B.J. Neufeld at third and Colton Lott and Ryan Harnden on the front end.

Dunstone has been runners-up in their last two events at the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic, and the HearingLife Tour Challenge and earlier in the season at the PointsBet Canada Invitational.

Someone will hoist their first championship trophy of the season between Koe and Dunstone.
