In Saturday evening Quarterfinals at the Baden Masters in Switzerland, Schwaller and his new look lineup won 4-2 over Italy's Joel Retornaz to advance to Sunday morning's Semifinals against Wouter Goesgens of the Netherlands. As happens following the Olympic season in many countries, lineup changes happen and the same process saw Yannick Schwaller leave his former team to joins with Schwarz and Michel, part of Peter De Cruz's long time top-ranked Swiss team. Schwaller's former teammates added Anthony Petoud to the lineup at second, with Michael Brunner taking over the skip role and Romano Meier moving into third position. Marcel Kaeufeler remains at the lead position. Following all the changes, Schwaller starts the season as the #17th ranked team on the WCF World Team Rankings, while Brunner retains 100% of last season's points ranking 12th overall. With the changes, the top spot in Switzerland is up for grabs over the next two months, with teams counting their best four event results on the WCF World Team Rankings toward qualifying for the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships in November. Schwaller finished 3-1 in Pool A at the Baden Masters, with the lone loss coming to Scotland's Bruce Mouat in their opening game. Schwaller bounced back with a 6-1 win over Magnus Ramsfjell of Norway, then won 5-2 over Wouter Goesgens of the Netherlands. Schwaller finished round-robin play with a 6-5 win over Jan Iseli.
