Team Casey Scheidegger improved to 5-0 at the 2022 Alberta Scotties on Wednesday, defeating Laura Walker's rink 8-7 in Draw 5 at Revolution Place in Grande Prairie.

Team Walker opened the draw with a score of one in the first end, after starting with the hammer.

Scheidegger then answered right back in the second end with a score of two, they would further expand on their lead in the third with a steal of one. Team Walker responded in the fourth end with another single point.

After Scheidegger made the blank in the fifth end, her team would take a narrow 4-3 lead heading into the break.

Coming back in the sixth end, Team Scheidegger would further expand on their lead, picking up another single point. In the seventh, Walker finally scored her first two-point end of the game, tying things up at four apiece.

The tie however would be short-lived, as Scheidegger picked up another deuce in the eighth end, taking a 6-4 lead heading into the ninth. The team would then add to their lead in nine, picking up a steal of 1.

Team Walker would keep their hopes alive in the tenth, by putting up a huge score of three. With things tied up at 7-all, the game would be headed to an extra-end.

In the extra, Scheidegger did exactly what she needed to by scoring one, giving her team an 8-7 win.

With their victory, Team Scheidegger now takes the top spot in the standings with a 5-0 record. The only other undefeated team is Kelsey Rocque's rink from Edmonton, who currently sit at 4-0.

Team Scheidegger will next take to the ice on Thursday afternoon, as they battle Elysa Crough's team.

Team Walker will look to rebound as they face off against Kayla Skrlik's rink, that draw is also set for Thursday afternoon.

The 2022 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties continues all week at Revolution Place in Grande Prairie, with all round-robin draws streaming live on Curling Alberta's YouTube page.

The championship final is set for Sunday at 11:00 AM MT and will be televised live on Sportsnet.
