![]() Corryn Brown (photo: Curl BC) and her Kamloops based squad secure a 10-7 victory over Kayla MacMillan to earn their spot as Team BC at the 2025 Scottie's Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario. By Meredith McCullum Corryn Brown - backed by lead Samantha Fisher, second Sarah Koltun and third Erin Pincott - was only defeated once through the week, 8-7 in the final Round Robin draw against Victoria's Kayla MacMillan. She would bounce back to defeat MacMillan 8-3 in the 1v2 page playoff and again 10-7 in the Championship final. Brown began the final with hammer, scoring one point. MacMillan bounced back with a deuce in the second. Brown bounced back in the third, scoring a huge three points, then forcing one and taking a deuce to lead 6-3 at the fifth end break. In the sixth end, MacMillan scored one point, narrowing the gap to 6-4. Brown score a deuce to put themselves in good position, up 8-4 with three ends left to play. MacMillan tried to fight back, making a short runback to score three in the eighth. However, Brown would bounce back with another deuce in the ninth and ultimately run MacMillan out of rocks to secure the 10-7 win. British Columbia Women's Provincial Final: Brown vs MacMillan/b> Brown will be heading to the Scottie's for the fourth team alongside third Erin Pincott (2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025). Lead Samantha Fisher has been with the team for three of those appearances. Second Sarah Koltun is new to the team, but will be making her 10th appearance at the Scottie's, the other nine being with team Yukon or Northwest Territories. Team Brown is coached by British Columbia Men's curling legend Jim Cotter, who has his own 10 appearances at the Brier, including a silver medal finish in 2014. His daughter and mixed doubles Jaelyn Cotter has been Brown's alternate for the past few seasons. Last year Brown lost the BC Provincial final 11-3 to team Clancy Grandy (now team MacMillan) but qualified as the final wildcard team at the 2024 Scottie's Tournament of Hearts. This year Brown finished their week in Langley with an impressive 8-1 record, to earn the team BC jackets at the 2025 Scottie's Tournament of Hearts. |
