By Connor Simms, Fresh out of juniors, Jordon McDonald, with Dallas Burgess at third, Elias Huminicki and Cameron Olafson on the front end, is ready to gain valuable experience in their first-ever Grand Slam. After a hot start to the season, #14 Year-to-Date ranked (YTD), McDonald in the 2024-2025 season has accomplished the following in their first season on the men's circuit: Grabbing their spot in Curling Canada's High-Performance program after winning the U25 NextGen Curling Classic, winning the MCT Curling Cup, qualifying for playoffs in 10 of 11 events so far, and lastly, making their first career Grand Slam. To add to their impressive season, McDonald won the WFG Canadian Junior Cup, an under-21 event, booking a trip to Switzerland to wear the Red and White at the Swiss Cup at the end of February. McDonald is a favourite at the Manitoba Viterra Mens Provincials in Portage la Prairie for a chance at Montana's Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia. McDonald opens the WFG Masters against the back-to-back-to-back Grand Slam of curling champions Bruce Mouat (Scotland) on Tuesday at 11:30 am Eastern Time (ET). On Wednesday, they take on Sweden's Niklas Edin at 8:00 am ET. They will continue on Thursday, taking on Switzerland's Marco Hoesli at 3:30 pm ET and finishing off round robin on Friday against Duluth's Korey Dropkin at 7:30 pm ET. All the action continues, with the quarterfinals and semi-finals happening on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
