Matthew Blandford (Vancouver, BC) won 5-3 over British Columbia's Jay Wakefield in the Final of the King Cash Spiel, held October 16 - 19 at the Golden Ears Curling Club in Maple Ridge, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Blandford won 5-4 over Cody Tanaka (Kamloops, BC) in the semifinals of the King Cash Spiel in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-2 over Matt Tolley (Penticton, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the King Cash Spiel in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada;
Blandford finished 3-1 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Blandford lost 5-4 to British Columbia's Jay Wakefield, then responded with a 9-3 win over Alex Duncan-Wu (Victoria, BC). Blandford won 7-4 against Richard Krell (Langley, BC), then won 7-2 against Cameron de Jong (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the King Cash Spiel Championship title, Blandford earned 9.750 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN first prize cheque. Blandford move up 7 spots after posting a net gain of 8.25 points improving upon their best 3 results so far this season, ranking 46th overall with 73.293 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Blandford ranks 33rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 41.125 points earned so far this season.
