To advance to the championship game, Grattan won 8-4 over Ty Dilello (St. John's , NL) in the semifinals of the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; James Grattan (Oromocto, NB) qualified for the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic playoffs, set to play their quarterfinals match against 0.
Grattan finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Grattan defeated Dilello 9-1, then won 10-4 against Tyler Smith (Charlottetown, PEI) and 7-4 against Zach Atherton (Halifax, NS). Grattan won 9-4 against Julien Tremblay (Levis, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic Championship title, Grattan earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 17 of the event schedule, Grattan did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Grattan ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
