To advance to the championship game, Norway's Lukas Hostmaelingen won 7-4 over Jan Iseli (Solothurn , SUI) in the semifinals of the FISU World University Games in Turin, Italy;

In their opening game, Norway's Lukas Hostmaelingen defeated Hebert 4-3, then won 12-2 against Axel Landelius (Mjolby, SWE) and 8-5 against Iseli. Norway's Lukas Hostmaelingen won 8-3 against Great Britain's Arran Thomson, then won 8-6 against Eduard Nikolov (Kyiv, UKR) and 8-3 against Tianyu Meng (Harbin, CHN).
