Evelina Barone/Kristaps Zass (Riga, LAT) lost 9-2 to Katrina Gaidule/Roberts Buncis (Riga, LAT) in the Final of the WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup 1, held October 31 - November 2 in Riga, Latvia. To advance to the championship game, Barone/Zass won 8-6 over Sylvi Hausstatter/Sondre Svorkmo-Lundberg (Lillehammer, NOR) in the semifinals of the WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup 1 in Riga, Latvia; and won 8-7 over Akvile Rykove/Konstantin Rykov (Vilnius, LTU) in the quarterfinals.
Barone/Zass finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Barone/Zass defeated Andrine Roenning/Harald Daehlin (Lillehammer, NOR) 9-2, then won 7-4 against Liga Avena/Aivars Avotins (Riga, LAT) and 10-0 against Mintaute Jurkute/Paulius Rymeikis (Vilnius, LTU). Barone/Zass won 8-6 against Nerea Torralba Viela/Jose Manuel Sanguesa (San Sebastian, ESP) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup 1, Barone/Zass take home 2.750 world rankings points along with the $300CDN prize. For week 14 of the event schedule, Barone/Zass did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Barone/Zass ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
