Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) won 10-4 over Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 12 - 15 at the Karuizawa Ice Park in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Muskatewitz won 8-6 over Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI) in the semifinals
Muskatewitz finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muskatewitz defeated Yanagisawa 10-4, then won 4-2 against Takumi Maeda (Tokoro, JPN) and 10-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad , SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Muskatewitz earned 37.500 world rankings points along with the $6,535CDN first prize cheque. For week 20 of the event schedule, Muskatewitz did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Muskatewitz ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
