Xenia Schwaller (Zurich, SUI) won 7-6 over Michelle Englot (Regina, SK) in the Final of the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown, held December 12 - 15 at the Swift Current Curling Club in Swift Current, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Schwaller won 4-3 over Satsuki Fujisawa (Kitmami, JPN) in the semifinals of the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 7-3 over Kayla MacMillan (Victoria, BC) in the quarterfinals.
Schwaller finished 3-0 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schwaller defeated Serena Gray-Withers (Edmonton, AB) 7-2, then won 7-1 against Danielle Inglis (Ottawa, ON) and 7-2 against Delaney Strouse (Traverse City, MI) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown Championship title, Schwaller earned 45.000 world rankings points along with the $12,000CDN first prize cheque. Schwaller move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 37.5 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 8th overall with 260.453 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Schwaller ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 184.000 points earned so far this season.
