McDonald finished 3-1 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Ben Grant (Thunder Bay , NO) 7-3, then won 6-3 against Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, NO) and 4-1 against Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, NO). McDonald went on to lose 7-6 against Adams Jr. in their final qualifying round match.
