Christina Black (Halifax, NS) is set to play Black in the Final Black advanced directly to the championship game after finishing first in the preliminary round. of the Nova Scotia Scotties, held January 24 - 30, 2023 at the Bluenose CC in New Glasgow, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Black won 9-4 over Tanya Hilliard (Dartmouth, NS) in the semifinals of the 2023 Nova Scotia Scotties in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada;
Black finished 5-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Black defeated Jocelyn Nix (Halifax, NS) 9-0, then won 8-5 against Jessica Daigle (Halifax, NS) and 10-6 against Hilliard. Black won 7-6 against Marlee Powers (Halifax, NS), then won 7-5 against Kristen MacDiarmid (Halifax, NS). Black went on to lose 6-5 against Hilliard in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Nova Scotia Scotties Championship title, Black earned 18.750 world rankings points. Black move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 9.75 points improving upon their best 6 results so far this season, ranking 16th overall with 151.879 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Black ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 118.250 points earned so far this season.
