Reid Carruthers (Morris, MB) lost 7-2 to Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the DEKALB Superspiel, held December 2 - 5, 2022 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Carruthers won 5-4 over John Shuster (Duluth, MN) in the semifinals of the 2022 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-2 over Corey Chambers (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;
Carruthers finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Tommy Sullivan (Halifax, NS) 4-3, then won 7-3 against Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK). Carruthers went on to lose 8-2 against Shuster. Carruthers responded with a 9-3 win over Sullivan in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Carruthers take home 27.500 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, remaining in 8th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 6.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Carruthers ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.750 points earned so far this season.
