Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) lost 9-2 to Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final To advance to the championship game, Yanagisawa won 7-4 over ByeongJin Jeong (Seoul, KOR) in the semifinals of the S3 Group Curling Stadium Series in Swift Current, Saskatchewan; and won 8-4 over Scott Manners (Lloydminster, SK) in the quarterfinals.

Yanagisawa finished 3-0 in the 16 team S3 Group Curling Stadium Series qualifying round, held October 7 - 10 in , . In their opening game, Yanagisawa defeated Josh Heidt (Kerrobert , SK) 7-0, then won 6-5 against Manners and 6-4 against Jesse St. John (Swift Current, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
