In their opening game, Shen lost 6-3 to Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN), then responded with a 8-5 win over Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO). Shen went on to lose 8-1 against Cody Tanaka (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
