Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) finished 3-3 in the 7 team World Qualification Event qualifying round, held January 17 - 22, 2022 in , . In their opening game, Maeda defeated Ting-Li Lin (Taiwan, TPE) 12-3, then went on to lose 8-7 against Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR). Maeda responded with a 5-3 win over Sergio Vez (Vitoria-Gasteiz, ESP). Maeda went on to lose 10-8 against Sergei Glukhov (Moscow, RUS). Maeda lost 8-1 to Kalle Kiiskinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN) where Maeda responded with a 6-4 win over Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED) in their final qualifying round match.

Maeda earned 1.519 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 194th place overall with 10.201 total points. Maeda ranks 175th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 9.000 points earned so far this season.
