Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) lost 9-3 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships, held November 16 - 23, 2019 in Helsingborg, Sweden. To advance to the championship game, Schwaller won 8-5 over Mikkel Krause (Hvidovre, DEN) in the semifinals of the 2020 Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden;
Schwaller finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schwaller defeated Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) 9-4, then went on to lose 8-5 against Edin. Schwaller responded with a 11-5 win over Krause. Schwaller won 10-6 against Sergei Glukhov (Moscow, RUS), then won 8-7 against Andrew Reed (Kent, ENG). Schwaller went on to lose 9-4 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Schwaller lost 5-4 to Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) where Schwaller responded with a 8-3 win over Ross Paterson (Stirling, SCO). Schwaller won 7-5 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships, Schwaller take home 46.868 world rankings points, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 10th place overall with 366.788 total points. Schwaller ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 227.559 points earned so far this season.
