Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) lost 11-2 to Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the Final of the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships, held November 2 - 9, 2019 in Shenzhen, China. To advance to the championship game, Matsumura won 7-5 over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) in the semifinals of the 2020 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in Shenzhen, China;
 
Matsumura finished 8-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Sean Hall (Melbourne, AUS) 8-5, then went on to lose 8-6 against Kim. Matsumura responded with a 7-5 win over Abylay Zhuzbay (Almaty, KAZ). Matsumura won 13-3 against Nassar Alyafei (Doha, QAT), then won 21-0 against Tijani Cole (Lagos, NGR) and 8-7 against Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL). Matsumura won 6-5 against Randie Shen (Taipei City, TPE), then won 8-7 against Zou and 13-2 against Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships, Matsumura take home 21.600 world rankings points. For week 16 of the event schedule, Matsumura did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Matsumura ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
