Ruohonen finished 5-0 in the 24 team Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic presented by The Lodge Sasquatch Kitchen qualifying round, held January 9 - 12 at the Coyotes Curling Club in Scottsdale, United States. In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Bob Leclair (Tempe, AZ) 6-4, then won 7-1 against Mike Siggins (Tempe, AZ) and 9-3 against Jeff Richard (Kelowna, BC). Ruohonen won 7-2 against Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC), then won 7-6 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
