Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN) finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Jay Merchant (Sydney, AUS) 7-3, then won 12-1 against Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL). Matsumura went on to lose 9-5 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Matsumura responded with a 15-2 win over Nassar Alyafei (Doha, QAT). Matsumura won 8-7 against SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR), then won 9-2 against Viktor Kim (Almaty, KAZ) and 6-5 against Randie Shen (Taipei, TPE). Matsumura won 13-2 against Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships Championship title, Matsumura earned 26.719 world rankings points. Matsumura move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 15.961 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 26th overall with 149.306 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Matsumura ranks 18th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 115.153 points earned so far this season.
