In their opening game, Mouat defeated Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, CAN) 8-6, then went on to lose 8-3 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Mouat lost 5-3 to Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) where Mouat responded with a 7-5 win over Gunnlaugson. Mouat went on to lose 7-4 against Shuster. Mouat responded with a 9-1 win over Zou in their final qualifying round match.
