Matt Dunstone (Regina, SK) won 5-4 over Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final To advance to the championship game, Dunstone won 4-3 over Braden Calvert (winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2018 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-2 over Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) in the quarterfinals.
Dunstone finished 4-0 in the 32 team DEKALB Superspiel qualifying round, held November 2 - 5, 2018 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. In their opening game, Dunstone defeated Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB) 7-0, then won 5-2 against Daniel Birchard (Winnipeg, MB) and 9-2 against Brock Virtue (Kerrobert, SK). Dunstone won 6-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Morris, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the DEKALB Superspiel Championship title, Dunstone earned 52.484 world rankings points along with the $11,000CDN first prize cheque. Dunstone move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 36.147 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 12th overall with 283.375 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Dunstone ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 169.013 points earned so far this season.
