Karina Aitken (Edinburgh, SCO) lost 5-4 to Sophie Jackson (Stirling, SCO) in the Final of the Scottish Curling Junior Championships, held January 18 - 22, 2017 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
 
Aitken finished 4-2 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Aitken lost 7-6 to Lisa Davie (Stirling, SCO), droppimg another game, 14-5 to Jackson where Aitken responded with a 9-2 win over Beth Farmer (Kinross, SCO). Aitken won 10-4 against Amy MacDonald (Moray, SCO), then won 12-2 against Beth Dandie (Forfar, SCO) and 10-2 against Molly Keen (Moray, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Scottish Curling Junior Championships, Aitken take home 7.054 world rankings points. For week 23 of the event schedule, Aitken did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Aitken ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
