Ian Palangio (Sydney, AUS) finished 2-6 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Palangio lost 7-5 to Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN), droppimg another game, 6-1 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Palangio lost 7-3 to Randie Shen (Taipei, TPE). Palangio lost 6-5 to Hong Kong's Jason Chang. Palangio lost 8-2 to Peter De Boer (Naseby, NZ) where Palangio responded with a 17-2 win over Abdulrahman Nabil (Doha, QA). Palangio won 13-2 against Viktor Kim (Almaty, KAZ). Palangio went on to lose 6-3 against SooHyuk Kim (Gangwon, KOR) in their final qualifying round match.

Palangio earned 1.425 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 36 spots the World Ranking Standings into 355th place overall with 3.456 total points. Palangio ranks 248th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.425 points earned so far this season.
