To advance to the championship game, Deruelle won 4-3 over Kurtis Byrd (Kingston, ON) in the semifinals of the 2016 Secker Ross & Perry Eastern Ontario Championship in Kingston, Ontario; and won 7-2 over Dave Collyer (Belleville, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Secker Ross & Perry Eastern Ontario Championship in Kingston, Ontario;
Deruelle finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Deruelle defeated Jay Gazeley (Kingston, ON) 10-8, then won 5-3 against Doug Brewer (Cornwall, ON) and 7-2 against Phillip Tomsett (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
