To advance to the championship game, McCormick won 6-3 over Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN) in the semifinals of the 2016 Coors Light Cash Spiel in Duluth, Minnesota, United States; and won 8-5 over Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, NONT) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Coors Light Cash Spiel in Duluth, Minnesota, United States;

McCormick finished 3-1 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McCormick defeated Tucker Smith (Fargo, ND) 7-4, then went on to lose 8-7 against Hunter Clawson (Laurel, MD). McCormick responded with a 7-3 win over Shawn Rojeski (Eveleth, MN). McCormick won 6-5 against Minnesota's Todd Birr in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Coors Light Cash Spiel Championship title, McCormick earned 23.384 world rankings points along with the $4,056CDN first prize cheque, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 34th place overall with 173.585 total points. McCormick ranks 17th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 130.891 points earned so far this season.
