William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) lost 9-4 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the DEKALB Superspiel, held November 18 - 21, 2016 at the Morris Curling Club in Morris, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Lyburn won 8-4 over Gustav Eskilsson (Skellefteï¿½, SWE) in the semifinals of the 2016 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 6-1 over Dennis Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.

Lyburn finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lyburn defeated Darryl Horsman (Tempe, AZ) 8-2, then won 6-5 against Taylor McIntyre (Winnipeg, MB) and 4-2 against Eskilsson. Lyburn won 6-4 against McEwen in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Lyburn take home 36.347 world rankings points along with the $6,600CDN prize. Lyburn move up 7 spots after posting a net gain of 35.334 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 22nd overall with 215.817 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Lyburn ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 79.774 points earned so far this season.
