Canad Inns Women's Classic qualifying round, held October 21 - 24, 2016 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. In their opening game, Lawton defeated Bingyu Wang (HARBIN, CHN) 5-4, then went on to lose 9-7 against Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB). Lawton lost 6-5 to Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, NONT) where Lawton responded with a 6-4 win over Jacqueline Harrison (Mississauga, ON). Lawton went on to lose 5-4 against Jolene Campbell (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Lawton earned 3.202 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 5 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 35th place overall with 125.032 total points. Lawton ranks 51st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 36.154 points earned so far this season.
