Kauste lost 7-3 to Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) where Kauste responded with a 9-1 win over Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER). Kauste won 9-3 against Alexey Tselousov (Moscow, RUS). Kauste went on to lose 7-5 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Kauste earned 13.217 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Kauste move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 11.144 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 26th overall with 190.090 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Kauste ranks 41st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 95.530 points earned so far this season.
