Hartung lost 9-2 to William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) where Hartung responded with a 6-2 win over Jeff Erickson (Red Deer, AB). Hartung won 6-5 against Alex Forrest (Winnipeg, MB). Hartung went on to lose 6-4 against Markus Hoiberg (Oppdal, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.

Hartung earned 3.108 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 1 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 57th place overall with 48.341 total points. Hartung ranks 113th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.131 points earned so far this season.
