In their opening game, McEwen defeated Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) 3-2, then won 6-5 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 6-5 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). McEwen went on to lose 5-4 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
