To advance to the championship game, Muirhead won 6-3 over Val Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; and won 8-5 over Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan;
Muirhead finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muirhead defeated Chantelle Eberle (Regina, SK) 7-2, then went on to lose 7-2 against Kristy McDonald (Winnipeg, MB). Muirhead responded with a 6-4 win over Julie Hastings (Thornhill, ON). Muirhead won 8-2 against Jones in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Canadian Open Championship title, Muirhead earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $25,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 334.157 total points. Muirhead ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 147.785 points earned so far this season.
