Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) 7-6, then went on to lose 10-5 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Retornaz responded with a 6-5 win over Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS). Retornaz won 6-4 against Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER). Retornaz went on to lose 7-3 against Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Retornaz responded with a 10-6 win over Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE). Retornaz went on to lose 8-3 against Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Olympic Qualification Event Championship title, Retornaz earned 34.215 world rankings points. For week 18 of the event schedule, Retornaz did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Retornaz ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
