Doherty finished 4-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Doherty defeated Todd Ussatis (Bismarck, ND) 7-3, then won 8-4 against Russell Heier (Bismarck, ND) and 10-1 against Tucker Smith (Bismarck, ND). Doherty went on to lose 6-3 against Stolt. Doherty responded with a 11-8 win over Jesa Legacie (Devils Lake, ND) in their final qualifying round match.
