To advance to the championship game, Simmons won 7-6 over Rick McKague (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2010 Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 5-3 over Randy Bryden (Regina, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2010 Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
 
Simmons finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons lost 1-0 to Scott Egger (Brooks, AB), then responded with a 9-3 win over Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB). Simmons went on to lose 9-2 against Dean Ross (Calgary, AB). Simmons responded with a 8-2 win over Lloyd Heller (Medicine Hat, AB). Simmons won 6-4 against Don Walchuk (Edmonton, AB), then won 9-1 against Leon Moch (Medicine Hat, AB) and 5-4 against Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic Championship title, Simmons earned 26.160 world rankings points along with the $11,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 13th place overall with 109.017 total points. Simmons ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 56.850 points earned so far this season.
