Mackey responded with a 7-0 win over Darren Moulding (Lethbridge, AB). Mackey won 5-4 against Don Walchuk (Edmonton, AB). Mackey went on to lose 7-4 against Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB). Mackey responded with a 8-1 win over Warren Hassall (Lloydminster, AB). Mackey went on to lose 7-1 against Wade White (Edmonton, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Mackey earned 3.270 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 39 spots the World Ranking Standings into 152nd place overall with 7.554 total points. Mackey ranks 94th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.270 points earned so far this season.
